Doc One

Imagine you need surgery. You enter the hospital or clinic. Sign up and sit on a chair. How nice would it be if you sit down in a comfortable chair…. And you are driven to the OR sitting on that chair… And you have surgery on that chair… and wake up in that chair again after the operation? Novymed, a trading party in medical furniture, and R2Pro have realized the doctor- and patient-friendly DOC-ONE operating chair. This means that the patient no longer needs to be transferred from bed to bed and can simply sit comfortably in 1 chair. This is good for both doctor and patient. A dynamic project from user research and ease of use to an improved design on mechanics, electronics, software, requirements, specifications and aesthetics.

The product: DOC ONE

Novymed and R2Pro have realized the doctor- and patient-friendly DOC-ONE operating chair. This means that the patient no longer needs to be transferred from bed to bed and can simply sit comfortably in 1 chair. This is good for both doctor and patient.

By working together with the end users as well as the production party and the software party, a chair has been designed that meets the needs of the users, in combination with the desired cost price and feasibility.

Folding shoulder parts, interchangeable headboards and a very wide range of possible movements ensure that the chair is suitable for many different common daytime surgeries.

Novymed and R2Pro

What started as a short design question turned into a close collaboration. For example, we could regularly be found in hospitals for extensive user research, as well as at the production party for supervising and optimizing production. A small selection of our work:

  • User research with doctors and nurses
  • Redesign chair for wider usability

Redesign seat for improved production and assembly
